The United States Association of Blind Athletes is proud to announce Team USA’s 2012 Women’s Paralympic Goalball Team. Team USA, the current Paralympic Games and Parapan American Games champions are an extremely versatile mix of new and veteran talent. This mix makes them an absolute can’t-miss for a second consecutive Paralympic Gold medal for 2012!
Here is your 2012 USA Paralympic Women’s Goalball Team:
Jen Armbruster (Portland, Oregon) – Making her sixth Paralympic Games appearance, Jen is looking to add a second gold medal to her collection that also includes silver and bronze Paralympic medals. The total package of strategic thinking on the court, rock-solid offense and defense and the consummate competitor, Jen is absolutely in it to win it.
Lisa Czechowski (Tucson, Arizona) – On her fourth Paralympic Games appearance, Lisa is a game changer anytime and anywhere she is on the court. Possessing superb defense skills as a center and a potent offense, Lisa has what it takes to help her team rise to the top of the medal stand in 2012. In addition to previous gold and silver medals in Goalball, Lisa left her mark on the Paralympic Games as a Track and Field medalist.
Amanda Dennis (Peachtree City, Georgia) – New to the Paralympic Team, Amanda is strong and determined to win. She was a key contributor to her team’s Gold medal performance at the 2011 Parapan American Games, and will no doubt be a catalyst for wins at this year’s Paralympic Games!
Asya Miller (Portland, Oregon) – A veteran of three prior Paralympic Games and no stranger to the top of the medal stand, Asya has a crushing offense and that will pay Team USA huge dividends as they march their way towards a second Paralympic Games championship. A versatile athlete, Asya also achieved Paralympic success as a Track and Field athlete. She also holds World records as a Powerlifter.
Robin Theryoung (Colorado Springs, Colorado) – Also making her fourth Paralympic Games appearance, Robin brings a brings a blend of experience, offensive and defensive talent, plus the motivation to win that assures Team USA the ability to excel in the most challenging game situations. Robin is determined to add a second Gold medal to her collection of Paralympic medals.
Jordan Walters (Boulder, Colorado) – Although new to the Paralympic Team, Jordan played an instrumental role during the 2010 World Goalball Championships that helped this team earn one of the earliest 2012 Paralympic Games qualification berths for Team USA. Jordan is ready to go and eager to make her Paralympic Games mark!
Rounding out the team is a seasoned staff that includes returning Head Coach Ken Armbruster (Colorado Springs, Colorado), Assistant Coach Jake Czechowski (Tucson, Arizona), Team Leader Sharon Gunderman (Dubois, Pennsylvania) and Athletic Trainer Dawn Gulick (Pottstown, Pennsylvania).
