United States Association of Blind Athletes Partners with WE Fit Wellness to Expand Reach and Program Offerings

Colorado Springs, Colorado (September 16, 2015) – The United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA) is partnering with WE Fit Wellness to expand program and service offerings to increase community outreach. The partnership will promote a wide array of sport, recreation, and fitness options for people who are blind or visually impaired.

“Research shows that individuals who are blind are twice as likely to be obese as the general population and significantly more likely to lead sedentary lifestyles,” said WE Fit Wellness Executive Director, Jessica Beecham. “WE Fit Wellness is thrilled to have the opportunity to work with USABA to bring the kind of wellness tools, promotion of better health, and confidence building which will augment the already robust programs of USABA.”

USABA has a 39-year track record of excellence, creating and enhancing opportunities for blind and visually impaired women and men, who wish to participate in competitive athletics. The energetic, innovative approach of WE Fit Wellness, when combined with the many sport and recreation programs of USABA, will bring a continuum of exciting services to blind and visually impaired people of all ages and the agencies and educators that work with them.

“From providing accessible and relevant information about nutrition and local recreational opportunities to encouraging greater involvement in USABA athletics, WE Fit Wellness and USABA will broaden the spectrum of fitness and athletics for the blind, “said Mark Lucas, USABA Executive Director.
