Five Athletes Selected to 2023 Goalball Youth World Championship Team

(COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – May 25, 2023) – Five teen athletes have been named to represent the United States at this summer’s 2023 IBSA Goalball Youth World Championships in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The competition, taking place July 15-19, is a significant tournament in the development of young goalball athletes, many of whom have gone on to represent Team USA and win medals at the Paralympic Games. Manticores and Honeybees Win Northeast Regional Goalball Titles

After a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the USABA Northeast Regional Goalball Tournament returned to Westmont, New Jersey, April 14-16. Now known as the Gunderman Goalball Classic in honor of the Association of Blind Athletes of New Jersey's longtime president Sharon Gunderman who passed away last April, the event drew over 90 athletes across 23 teams. The three-day competition was live-streamed on the USABA YouTube channel. The Manticores and New Jersey Honeybees went undefeated on the weekend to earn the gold medals in the men's and women's divisions, respectively. USA Goalball’s Tyler Merren Named Team USA Community Champion

The United States Olympic & Paralympic Foundation is proud to announce four athletes as the 2022 award recipients for Team USA Community Champions in partnership with Comcast. Previously known as the Team USA Service and Hope Award, this is the second year that the USOPF has given athletes this honor. Mary Cain (Atalanta NYC), Kelsey Dickinson (Women Ski Coaches Association), Tyler Merren (U.S. Association of Blind Athletes), and Billy Mills (Running Strong for American Indian Youth), were selected based on their commitment to serving and bettering their communities through nonprofit work. USA Blind Soccer Debuts with Two Victories Over Canada

With just over five years until the team makes its Paralympic Games debut in Los Angeles, the USA Blind Soccer Men’s National Team dipped its toes into the international competition waters with a pair of friendlies against its neighbor to the north, Canada. Chula Vista hosts historic matches vs. Canada, March 19-20 (March 15, 2023) – History will be made this weekend in Chula Vista, Calif., as the USA Blind Soccer Men’s National Team makes its debut on the pitch with two international friendlies against Canada.
