The USA Men’s and Women’s Goalball Teams both came away with medals around their necks at the conclusion of the IBSA Goalball Americas Championships that took place Feb. 18-22 in Sao Paulo, Brazil. The 12th United States Association of Blind Athletes Marathon National Championships presented by Allworth Financial took place on Sunday, December 5, in Sacramento, Calif., in conjunction with the California International Marathon. The race featured 41 runners who are blind and visually impaired, along with 64 guide runners helping them navigate the course either for the full 26.2-mile distance or on relay teams. The weather was cool and overcast, with temperatures hovering in the 40s for most of the race, ideal running temperatures which led to many personal-best times for the USABA runners. At the recently-concluded Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Team USA competed in a total of 241 events across 19 sport disciplines. The U.S. won a total of 37 gold, 36 silver and 31 bronze medals, and 129 athletes came home with hardware. This year's team consisted of 242 athletes, including 37 with visual impairments and six guides. In sports and categories for athletes with visual impairments, Team USA captured 16 medals, including four gold, seven silver and five bronze.
