U.S. Men’s and Women’s Goalball Teams Announced for 2018 World Championships


U.S. Goalball Head Coaches have named the teams that will represent Team USA at the 2018 IBSA Goalball World Championships to be held in Malmö, Sweden June 3-8, 2018. The tournament will serve as Team USA’s first opportunity to qualify its men’s and women’s goalball teams for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympic Games. In 2014, both U.S. Men and Women earned places on the podium (Women: 1st, Men: 3rd) to qualify to compete at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Seven-time Paralympian, Jen Armbruster, Retires from Goalball

Seven-time Paralympian and four-time Paralympic medalist, Jen Armbruster announced her retirement from goalball last Thursday. “It has been an honor and privilege to represent the United States of America at seven Paralympic Summer Games and a number of World Championships and Pan Am Games,” Armbruster said in an email announcing her retirement. Initially introduced to the Paralympic sport of goalball in 1990, Armbruster has been a pillar of the U.S. Women’s Goalball program since she began training with the National team shortly after she was introduced to the sport. U.S. Men’s Goalball Head Coach, Michael Legé, Retires

After 8 years as Head Coach of the USA Men’s Goalball team, Coach Michael Legé has retired. Legé joined the U.S. Men’s Goalball Team coaching staff in 2005 as an assistant after the death of Head Coach John Bakos. As a retired physical education teacher at the Florida School for the Deaf and the Blind, he also served as the boy’s goalball team coach. U.S. Goalball Teams Refreshed and Focused on Tokyo


Players on the U.S. Men’s and Women’s Goalball Teams took some well-earned time off after winning silver and bronze, respectively, at the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. But in January, teams were back on the court with their next big goal in mind - Tokyo. To say Rio was a success for both teams is an understatement. New Head Coach Named to U.S. Women’s National Goalball Team


USABA is proud to announce the promotion of U.S. Women’s National Goalball Team's Assistant Coach, Jake Czechowski, to Head Coach. Czechowski succeeds Coach Ken Armbruster who retired effective October 15.
