2015 Parapan Ams –Day Seven: U.S. Women’s Goalball Team Advances to Gold Medal Game


The U.S. Women’s Goalball needed to do one thing this morning to advance to the gold medal game against Brazil – break through Canada’s wall of defense. The game was back and forth but U.S. Women led at the half, 4-3. Their normal strategy of ‘defense first’ was tested early in the game when 2 goals were scored on them by Canada’s Ashlie Andrews. 2015 Parapan Ams –Day Seven: Silver for Women’s Goalball Team, Men to Play Brazil for Gold


It was a game of defense between U.S. Men and Canada this afternoon in the second semifinal match that would determine which team would advance to the gold medal game against Brazil. The first goal was scored 9 minutes into the first half, by Canada’s Brendan Gaulin. At the half, Canada led the U.S. Men’s team 1-0. 2015 Parapan Ams – Day Five: U.S. Women Defend Title, U.S. Men Shutout Competition


By: Courtney Patterson TORONTO (August 12, 2015) – The U.S. Women’s Goalball Team defended their World title while the Men put up their first shutout of the tournament against Puerto Rico. The U.S. Men’s Team took a cue from the U.S. Women and shutout Puerto Rico this morning, 10-0, with less than 2 minutes remaining in the first half. 2015 Parapan Ams – Day Four: U.S. Women’s Goalball Team shuts out third Americas team


TORONTO – The U.S. Women’s Goalball Team produced a third shutout while the U.S. Men’s Goalball Team had us on the edge of our seats. Offense prevailed in the Women’s game against Guatemala this morning as the women shutout another Americas team, 10-0, in the first half. 2015 Parapan Ams – Day Three: U.S. Teams Fall to Brazil

Both Men’s and Women’s goalball teams lost preliminary round robin games to next year’s Paralympic Games host, Brazil. The U.S. Men played first this morning, against the defending World Champions. The team started off strong with a goal from Matthew Simpson (Smyrna, Ga.) and a penalty shot from Joseph Hamilton (Sacramento, Calif.). The score was tied 2-2 at 5:30 in the first half. Shortly after Simpson’s goal, Brazil’s Leomon Moreno da Silva came back with two quick pitches back-to-back.
