At the 1984 Paralympic Games, Winford Haynes won gold and set a Paralympic record in the men’s 100m event with the time of 11.78. Haynes also competed at the 1976 Paralympic Games and won silver at the 1980 Paralympics. Not only was Haynes a great track athlete, but he also competed with the 1984 Men’s Paralympic Goalball Team, was a silver medalist in wrestling, and was a member of the U.S. Judo Team in the -65kg division at the 1988 and 1992 Games. In addition to his Paralympic accomplishments, Haynes was a physical education instructor at a rehabilitation center for blind adults in New Mexico.
